History Of Mount Batur
The history of Mount Batur dates back thousands of years. Located in Batur town, Kintamani District, Bali, Indonesia, Mount Batur stands at an elevation of 1,717 meters above sea level. It is a stratovolcano and an active volcano within two concentric calderas, situated northwest of Mount Agung.
The larger caldera, measuring 10×13 kilometers, contains a beautiful caldera lake on its southeast side. The inner caldera, with a diameter of 7.5 kilometers, was formed during the eruption of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite around 23,670 to 28,500 years ago.
Lake Batur covers the southeastern part of the inner caldera, while the Batur cone has developed within the inner caldera, reaching a height above the outer caldera rim. The Batur stratovolcano has numerous vents scattered throughout the caldera, with the Batur I, II, and III craters aligned along the summit ridge.
Throughout its history, Mount Batur has had intermittent eruptions characterized by mild to moderate explosive activity and occasional lava flows. Basaltic lava flows from both summit and flank vents have reached the caldera floor and the shores of Lake Batur.
The most notable eruption of Mount Batur occurred in 1968, leaving a visible lava field that can still be observed from the town of Kintamani, situated on the southwest edge of the larger caldera.
Historically, the volcano has experienced 25 mild to moderate strombolian eruptions, with lava flows recorded in 1849, 1888, 1904, 1905, 1921, 1926, 1963, 1968, and 1974. The volcano continues to be monitored closely due to its active nature.

Travel Itinerary
02.30am - Pick up time at Legian Seminyak Nusa Dua and Jimbaran.
The pick-up will be done using a private vehicle, exclusively for you or your group, making the journey more flexible. You can make stops at places you'd like to visit, such as observing terraced rice fields or visiting coffee plantations and processing sites. Additionally, the driver can help you arrange lunch (at your own expense) after your hiking activities.
The specific pick-up time will depend on the address you provide during the booking process. We will inform you of the exact pick-up time after you make the reservation.
03.00am - 2 Hours Trekking accompanied by a licensed trekking organization guide
At 03.30-04.00, you will be accompanied by a licensed trekking guide to assist you during the ascent of approximately 2 hours from the base to the peak of Mount Batur. The guide will follow our pace, and at any time, we can ask to stop for rest or take photos. After about 1 hour of trekking, we will take a short break while drinking the provided water. Then, we will continue the journey, enjoying the cool and fresh morning atmosphere until we finally reach the peak of Mount Batur. The first hour of the hike will pass through a slightly sloping path. After that, the terrain will become more challenging with steep slopes.
05.45am - Arriving at The Peak of Mount Batur
After arriving at the top we will be served a breakfast package and eggs cooked in steam volcano while waiting for the sun to rise. Prepare your camera to capture this extraordinary moment. The view that we see will depend on the current weather conditions. When it’s cloudy, maybe we can’t testify on many things. On sunny days, we will see beautiful scenery. When it’s cloudy, We will still see the beautiful scenery of the crater, Lake Batur and Mount Agung during the trip down.
07.00am - Back From Peak With Crater, Lake Batur and Mount Agung Views
During the trip down Mount Batur you can stop to see the hot steam coming out of the mountain crater. along the way you can see Lake Batur and Mount Agung very clearly from the top of Mount Batur. You can ask the guide to stop taking some photos for memories
09.30am - Enjoy a relaxing soak in Batur Natural Hot Spring Hot Spring
After the hike, you will be driven by a driver to the Batur Natural Hot Spring Pool to enjoy a soak in the hot pools while taking in the beautiful views of Lake Batur and Mount Abang. At the location, there is also a restaurant where you can order food or drinks at your own expense.
11.00am - Back to Hotel
During the journey back to the hotel, you will have the opportunity to visit some interesting places along the way, such as Tegalalang Rice Terrace and Coffee Plantation. Please remember that all expenses, including entrance tickets, will be your responsibility. Please note that during the return trip, you can only visit Coffee Plantation and Tegalalang Rice Terrace. If you are interested in visiting other places outside the return route, additional transportation costs may apply.
